Cycle 002 is Maison Violet’s driest and most spice-driven Expression fragrance. Bergamot and mandarin provide a brief citrus lift before black pepper, chilli, clove, cumin and elemi take over. Labdanum, Peru balsam and incense create a warm, resinous base. The brand frames the scent through desert heat and dry wind; in practice it reads as a sharp woody-spicy composition with balsamic depth rather than a sweet amber.

Our Perspective on Cycle 002

Cycle 002 is built around friction: bright citrus against dry pepper, aromatic resin against warm balsam. The cumin and chilli prevent the spice accord from feeling polished or predictable, while incense and labdanum give the drydown weight. It is not the most conventionally elegant Maison Violet fragrance, but that is its point. It suits someone who wants a deliberately angular, spice-led scent and is comfortable with a more unusual opening. Within the collection, it provides the clearest experimental counterweight to the house’s softer iris signatures.
